Keyword Targeting: Sending Visitors Who Are Already Interested
Traffic without intent is expensive noise. You can send ten thousand visitors to a page and watch them all leave, not because the page is bad, but because they were never looking for what it offers. Intent is the difference between a visitor and a bounce, and it is decided before anyone reaches your site: by what they were thinking about when they clicked.
Build a small set of topic clusters instead of a long keyword list. Start with the searches your buyers already use, both the problem they want to solve and the product they are considering. Add the topics of your five best pages and the categories your competitors are known for. Group everything into three to five clusters, and treat each cluster as one audience with one question on their mind.
Then match each cluster to a page. A cluster about reducing ad costs should land on a page whose headline talks about ad costs, not on your homepage. This match matters more than any targeting setting: when the first lines of the page answer the question that brought the visitor there, they stay; when they do not, they leave within seconds no matter how attractive the offer is further down.
Test clusters rather than guessing. Set keywords in the campaign, send two hundred real visits to each cluster with UTM tags on the links, and compare engagement time, scroll and conversions per hundred visits in Google Analytics. Keep the cluster that converts, rewrite the page for the one that engages but does not convert, and drop the one that does neither. On RealTraffic you choose which keywords your campaign targets, every visit is a real person from the countries you selected, and the flat $0.05 per visit means a full cluster test costs about ten dollars.
